CAPTIVE - Review and Book Giveaway

Do you remember Ashley Smith? Does anyone remember her story from Atlanta in 2005? Ashley Smith made headlines around the world when she was held hostage in her apartment overnight by an escaped killer, she ends up reading portions of the book, THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE to him and it saved her life! This very touching and inspirational  story is now being made into a movie. Movie releases in theaters on September 18th!

CAPTIVE, based on a miraculous true story that drew the attention of the entire nation, is a thrilling drama about the spiritual collision of two broken lives.  When Brian Nichols - on the run as the subject of a city wide manhunt and desperate to make contact with his newborn son - takes recovering meth addict Ashley Smith hostage in her own apartment, she turns for guidance to Rick Warren’s best-selling inspirational book, The Purpose Driven Life.  While reading aloud, Ashley and her would-be killer each face crossroads where despair and death intersect hope.

How about you? What is your purpose?

Ashley, despite all of the darkness and difficulties she endured in her own life, she found her purpose. She declared God's abundance of grace and redemption.

I vividly remember a guest pastor sharing his thoughts on the quote " God will not give you problems that you can not handle". The pastor said, the truth is, God will give things that sometimes seems like we can't handle, or will often send us on a road less traveled.

Why? Because God wants us to know that we can lean on Him. He will deliver us.  He did deliver Ashley that day.

As for me, I may not  yet truly know my purpose.. but for sure I find my purpose in :

Serving the Lord, giving glory to His name in any way that I can.. by loving on my family, my husband and our girls. .reaching out to others , to ones who needs to know our Savior and how great our God is.

I am happy to offer a  free copy of the book, Captive.

  1. Ahhh such a big question! I guess I'd say something like, living the life God has blessed me with as fully and joyfully and purposefully as I can. And doing my best to be faithful with the gifts and tasks he has entrusted me with.
