This Homemade Carmel Sauce adds a delicious touch to pancakes. We've used them with sliced apples for a snack and added them to our favorite dessert- brownies and ice cream! You should also try this Healthier Pancake recipe, which involves a few and healthier ingredients.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
3 1/2 tbsp oil
2 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
Toppings of your choice: fruits, walnuts or chocolate chips
See here for the Caramel Sauce: Easy Homemade Caramel Sauce
In a medium-size bowl, combine the white sugar and the cocoa powder.
Mix in the brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and flour. Whisk it all together.
In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk, eggs, oil, and vanilla. Whisk it together.
Make a well on your flour mix and pour in your buttermilk mixture. Mix well but do not over mix.
Add a pat of butter to your pan or griddle. Heat to medium-low. Scoop about 1/4 cup of the chocolate pancake batter onto your heated pan. Cook until bubble appears on top and flip the pancake. Cook for an additional 2 minutes or until it is cook through.
With the topping of your choice on top of the stack of pancakes, drizzle it homemade caramel sauce.
It is fluffy..and delicious!
You can cook these pancakes in a big batch. Batch cooking will save you time and your sanity especially on those days where you have tiny ones that tug into your pant leg so early in the morning because they want pancakes. REALLY. BAD.
