Elderberry Syrup - A Bountiful Love

Elderberry Syrup

Boost your immune system or shorten your sickness during the cold or flu season with this easy homemade elderberry syrup. If you are just like me, trying to keep your family healthy while keeping the budget in check then you will love this easy-to-follow elderberry syrup recipe. I buy my elderberries from Amazon and store them in the fridge. The initial cost will probably cost you around $20 to $25 but the yield will save you tons of money. Plus, you cannot beat the natural remedy you're providing for your family.

1/2 cup dried elderberries (organic if possible)

3 cups water

1/2 cup fresh lemon juice

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp clove powder

1/2 tsp ginger (fresh or powdered)

1/2 cup raw or organic honey

Combine the water and elderberries. Simmer for 30 minutes.

Turn the burner to low. Add the cinnamon, clove powder, and ginger. Cook on low for 1 hr.

After an hour, let it cool, and add the honey and lemon.

Using a fine strainer, strain the syrup. Discard the berries.  You can also strain first then add the honey and lemon,

Store in glass jars. I store mine inside the fridge.

For a daily immune boost: kids take 1/2 tsp tp 1 tsp daily. Adults can take 1 tbsp.

When we are sick or feeling under the weather, we take 1 tsp every hour.
