If you are just like me, trying to keep your family healthy while keeping the budget in check then you will love this easy-to-follow elderberry syrup recipe. I buy my elderberries from Amazon and store them in the fridge. The initial cost will probably cost you around $20 to $25 but the yield will save you tons of money. Plus, you cannot beat the natural remedy you're providing for your family.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup dried elderberries (organic if possible)
3 cups water
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp clove powder
1/2 tsp ginger (fresh or powdered)
1/2 cup raw or organic honey
Directions:
Combine the water and elderberries. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Turn the burner to low. Add the cinnamon, clove powder, and ginger. Cook on low for 1 hr.
After an hour, let it cool, and add the honey and lemon.
Using a fine strainer, strain the syrup. Discard the berries. You can also strain first then add the honey and lemon,
Store in glass jars. I store mine inside the fridge.
SUGGESTED USE:
For a daily immune boost: kids take 1/2 tsp tp 1 tsp daily. Adults can take 1 tbsp.
When we are sick or feeling under the weather, we take 1 tsp every hour.
