Pureflix: Eleanor's Bench - A Bountiful Love

Pureflix: Eleanor's Bench

Pureflix has a new series called "Eleanor's Bench". Starring Karen Abercrombie, she plays the role of a judge whose past shapes and haunts her present life. I like when Pureflix discusses social issues such as the juvenile justice system. It is informative yet entertaining and discerning. As a viewer, you can't help but be invested. I see the flaws starting from Jewels (played by Kamilah Matthews). I understand that we are shaped by our traumas and past experiences, I also believed that it should not dictate how we live our lives or shape our parenting. Just the fact that her story does in fact happen in real life is hard to comprehend. I guess I just believe in not being stuck with a victim mentality, that we can rise above our circumstances.

“Eleanor’s Bench” also reminds us that we’re all equal in God’s eyes. It is full of important lessons about following God’s calling, practicing self-control, learning from your past, and discovering that you are enough. Everybody deserves God’s love and grace. All you have to do is to accept it and be renewed by Him. If you haven't signed-up yet to Pureflix's free trial, sign up here: Pureflix

In episode 3 of Eleanor's Bench, Judge Eleanor's past experience along with unsolved hurt unfolded.  Sometimes, we are called to act. Now, that action may be hard to discern if it is God's will or just a result of our wants or desire or if our past dictates that decision. In this episode, Eleanor decides to foster Drayvon. It also shows how hard it is to draw a line between our personal convictions and connections and our professional lives.

Episode 3 also shares Drayvon's PTSD. Her mother's trial for the murder of her abusive ex-boyfriend was just sad. Foster care is a whole new system that is complex and compounded with unique cases. All I know is that foster care exists to protect children. I can ner understand the feeling of being separated from your own children. However, there are circumstances in that children deserve more: safety, protection, and the opportunity to thrive. Episodes 1 and 2 are now available on Pureflix!
