Most stores bought seasonings may contain extra ingredients to enhance their shelf life. Speaking of some extra ingredients, I just watched the news that mentioned how Parmesan cheese could contain some wood. Wood?!
Some Parmesan grated cheeses sold as "100 percent Parmesan" contain no Parmesan at all - but they do contain a fair chunk of harmless wood pulp ( READ HERE). I have shared a brief history of where an authentic Parmesan Regiano comes from and its true ingredients in this post.

There were several seasonings and mixes that I had stopped buying such as taco, guacamole, non-salt, cajun, and sloppy joe mix. I had stopped because I started making them. I have been making several mixes and seasonings for 5 or more years now. It is for sure good for your health because you can control the ingredients (like the quantity of sodium). Furthermore, it is budget-friendly!
My husband and I started the Beachbody workouts a few years ago. One of its workouts, the 21-day fix, encourages users to eat clean foods and use clean eating seasonings. Right below, you will also find the 21-day Fix seasonings that were provided. I added a few seasonings and mixes that you can totally make in less than 10 minutes. Be sure to store each seasoning in an airtight container, cool and dry place. And while you're at it, how about doubling the recipes? This technique will save you not only money but your precious time as well. Don't forget to grab the printable for easy reference!
All-Purpose Seasoning
3 tbsp ground black pepper
3tbsp ground cumin
1½ tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground cardamom
1 tsp ground sumac
¼ tsp kosher salt
Cajun Mix
2 tsp salt
2 tsp garlic powder
2½ tsp paprika
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1¼ tsp dried oregano
1¼ tsp dried thyme
½ tsp red pepper flakes (skip if you only want the mix to be mild)
Creole Seasoning
2 tbsp onion powder
2 tbsp garlic powder
2 tbsp. dried oregano
2 tbsp dried basil
1 tbsp dried thyme
1 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp white pepper
1 tbsp cayenne pepper
5 tbsp paprika
3 tbsp salt
Dry Onion Soup Mix
2/3 cup of dried, minced onions
3 tsp of parsley
2 tsp of onion powder
2 tsp of turmeric
1 tsp of celery salt
1 tsp of sea salt
1 tsp of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
Fajita Seasoning
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 1/2 tsp cumin
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper (optional)
Guacamole Seasoning *makes enough to use for 2 avocados.
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp dried minced onion or onion powder
Pinch of cumin, to taste
1/4 tsp dried cilantro
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp salt
SLOPPY JOE MIX ** This makes a batch of sloppy joe (1 packet)
2 tbsp onion powder or dried onion
2 tbsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp celery seed
Taco Seasoning * 2-3 tbsp per pound of meat.

4 Tbsp dried parsley, crushed

1 Tbsp chili powder
