The Best Homemade Refried Black Beans - A Bountiful Love

The Best Homemade Refried Black Beans

One of the things that I like about making my own homemade pantry staple is that you know what the ingredients are. No hard to read ingredients. Aside from it being economical, it is healthier too. You can always tweak a homemade recipe to your own likeness.

Ingredients:

1/2 to 1 cup of salsa
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp chili powder
2 cups of black beans - Homemade or canned (low sodium)
1/2 to 1  tsp salt
1/2 to 1  tsp pepper

Directions:

I always make my beans ahead of time and freeze it. I rarely buy the canned beans, a pound of beans yield more beans ( it saves you money!)  than a can but using low sodium black beans is just fine too.

Mix all of the seasonings in a small bowl,

Using a blender or food processor, pour the beans followed by the salsa,

and then the prepared seasonings.

Blend it all together. You may add more salsa, depending on the texture that you want.

Some variations will be: Use pinto beans. add cayenne pepper, use medium or hot salsa.

How easy can that be?

Use it as a healthier dip, on your favorite burrito recipe, Mexican steak bowls, nachos, and more!

I personally enjoyed it as a dip. Have you tried a HOMEMADE TORTILLA RECIPE? See the recipe HERE.
