My daughter and I had the privilege to go to Washington DC to see some of the Smithsonian Museum, The White House, The Bible Museum, Ford Theatre, and a few memorials/monuments. We also went to Maryland to see Fort McHenry, Pennsylvania for Gettysburg, and George Washington's Mt. Vernon in Virginia. We also went to the Capitol, Arlington, and National Archives.
I am pretty sure that I may have forgotten a couple more places, but it was such a blessing to see United States history right before my eyes. I love documentaries and short form learning videos and seeing them in person is quite a different and amazing experience. Seeing the Declaration of Independence is humbling. Check out the link at the bottom of this post for the National Archives link. While there was a lot of walking, you really won't mind it all because of all the things that you can see. If I have a choice, I will probably stay more than 5 days. There are just too many places to see. Both historical and just for fun.
Whether you're homeschooling, looking for educational family movie night ideas, or simply wanting to deepen your appreciation of American history, documentaries and short videos offer an engaging way to bring history to life.
