The Fourth of July is more than fireworks, backyard barbecues, and parades—it's a time to remember the history of the United States and celebrate the freedoms we enjoy today. One of the best ways to spend Independence Day is by gathering the family for inspiring, educational, and entertaining movies that teach American history while creating lasting memories. My family loves movie nights and movie marathon. Make it a special movie day by serving popcorn and treats!
As a homeschool family, I love stitching fun times with lesson times. Movies help bring history to life. They encourage meaningful family conversations about America's founding fathers, the courage and sacrifice of historical figures, the freedom and democracy that we still have to keep fighting for.
Moreover, I think that it is our civic responsibility to know the US history and honor those who helped shape our nation. It is imperative to learn from our history so we can protect it and learn from past mistakes.
While some historical films take creative liberties, they can spark curiosity and inspire further learning. Some of the movies have ratings on the list. However, you can also use Common Sense Media to check if it is appropriate for your children.
