Beef Jerky Recipe - A Bountiful Love

Beef Jerky Recipe

During California's stay-at-home order, we were one of those families who shifted our focus and energy to cooking and baking. We also did a lot of nature walks where there little to no people around. We packed our food and made the best of this difficult season. While this pandemic is far from over, we try to see the positive side of it.

Speaking of packing food, this delicious and tasty beef jerky recipe is THE BEST.  We packed this bag of goodness on our adventure day trips. My girls love it! This is seriously easy to make and frugal as compared to buying a package from the store.

Ingredients:
2 lbs. beef round steak (cut into thin strips)
2 tbsp liquid smoke - we have used mesquite and hickory, they both turned out great!
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp salt
1-2 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp meat tenderizer
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika

You will also need:

Dehydrator (THIS is the one we have)
Ziploc bag, gallon size
large deep bowl

Directions:

In a large deep bowl, mix the soy sauce. Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, brown sugar, salt, pepper (1 tsp), meat tenderize4, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add in the strips of beef. Make sure that the beef is evenly coated. Cover and marinate overnight. Minimum 8 hrs. The longer it marinates, the better.

We always store the beef using a Ziploc bag for overnight marinating. When we make a big batch (just double the recipe), he marinates it longer and makes sure to flip the Ziploc bag to ensure even flavoring.

The next day, remove the beef from the marinade and arrange it into the trays of your dehydrator. Dry at the highest setting. After 5 hrs, try a piece to see if it is done to your liking. I personally like it on the crunchy side.

Store in an airtight container.

This recipe serves 10. In our household, this easy beef jerky recipe will only last 3 days!
