How to Dig into God's Word and a GIVEAWAY

Back in my younger high school years, I remember owning a little blue New Testament Bible. All the things I learned about the Bible..events, people, history and genealogy was learned through my Christian Living subject, Sunday Catechism and movies.I went off to College and still owned the little blue New Testament Bible. I had some additions to that, I had a handful of prayer books and Novena pamphlets.

I really didn't know how to dig deeper into God's word. That it has a lot to offer. The truth and food for our souls. I can recite the New Testament books to you without winking ( thanks to my 6th grade Christian Living teacher who taught us to sing it). I could recite well known Bible passages to you but never had the chance to deeply put my heart, mind and soul into the scriptures.

How do you dig into God's word?

1. Know God - knowing God is falling in love with Him. Knowing Him through His word - BIBLE.
2. Resting - Rest your worries and let go of what a scripture reading or scripture time with the Lord is. Whatever your method is that will work for you, go for it. If it is through Bible Illustration, if it is through journaling. You don't have to have all the fancies to spend time with Him. You can go with color coding method, S.O.A.P method, S.O.A.K method.
3.Stop doubting- Trust His words. Whatever your past is, rest in Christ.
4.Praying - Pray for guidance, pray that through His word...you may fully know Him. I was scared of literally interpreting the Bible. I just don't want to pick and choose passages and stories that suits my mood. Pray before reading the Bible and after. Make prayer a priority too.
5. Habit - Make it a habit and part of your routine. I love my time with Him in the morning before my kids get up for their day and after my husband leaves for work.
6. Music- We enjoy listening to worship songs every morning. It is an inspiration. Music that is deeply soaked with God's words and promises. Our kids have their own playlist on Spotify.
7. References - Use references that goes with your Bible reading. You can use the library or book sales. I always take advantage of book bag sales. Find a very affordable Christian store. References can get very expensive on big boxed stores.

If you are looking for an  affordable store where you can purchase references, I definitely recommend Family Christian Stores. I purchased my items online. I will be honest, the check out didn't go smoothly as I want it to be. I registered twice but it still won't register on the system . BUT I phoned in and they are very very accommodating. I just gave my order online, since it is always nice to talk to a person anyway. Abigail of Family Christian Store was so nice and helpful. Besides, all online stores have computer glitches every now and again. I will definitely order again.

As for my purchase, I ordered The Baker Illustrated Guide to the Bible: A Book-By-Book Companion that I will use with my personal Bible Study and to share with our kids and America Strong Shirt for my hubs. Love the Philippians: 4:13 passage on the shirt .America Strong, such a timely reminder with today's political events. Not my strongest suit..so I'm moving on :)
