Making your own mixes can cut your grocery bill. Most especially if your family loves muffins, the cost of a boxed muffin or a pouch can easily add up. If you shop at Costco, it is cheap to buy a sack of flour versus a pound of flour from the grocery store. Not unless the flour is on sale or you can always buy the store brand. If choose to buy a huge sack of flour, make sure that you store the flour properly
To make the mixes, you can use Ziploc bags or containers (such as mason jars). I love using Ziploc bags so I can write further directions or notes. Aside from making your own muffin mixes to save you money, you can try making these 9 Pantry Staples that you can make at home. Also, if you are not a subscriber, you can download these huge lists of homemade staples. It is free to join our weekly newsletter
You can write the date, directions on the Ziploc bag, or any ingredients you still need to add. If you want to take your money-saving skills up a notch, do not throw the Ziploc bags away. Rinse it, let it dry so you can make another batch of the mix!
