Bible Verses For When You Feel Like Giving Up - A Bountiful Love

Bible Verses For When You Feel Like Giving Up

".For the Word of God is alive and powerful, it is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires".

Hebrews 4:112

Let that sink in for a while. I do not know what you are going through right now. But you are here reading this post because you are probably in the middle of life-changing circumstances and in need of comfort or you are just here because we can always use the word of God. Let's put it this way, the word of God is our spiritual warfare arsenal. Sometimes, it feels like your situation will never change. You may even feel like you are not loved by Him, not worthy, and in a hopeless situation..too far gone.

But can I tell you something? Those are all lies. The enemy never stops making us feel unworthy. It doesn't cease on whispering lies into our ears making us doubt not just ourselves or the hope that only comes from Jesus but also His grace. We forget how gracious our Heavenly Father is. We become impatient and we fall deep into despair.  One of my favorite books is the Circle Maker. That book reminded me of the power of prayers and the Word of God. There are prayers mentioned in the book that did not realize soon enough. There were intent prayers that were not answered until several years later. It is indeed typical for us to feel impatient and sad. God did not mention being sad as one of the top 10 commandments. In fact, read through the Lamentations, Psalms, and Job.

David is a great example (Psalms).

In Psalm 22:1-5, David's despair is evident. He cried out to God and questioned Him. Jesus even quoted David when He was dying on the cross (Matthew 27:46). What David went through (from dealing with King Saul's jealousy to fleeing from his son during Absalom's rebellion (read 2 Samuel 15-19)  are enough reasons to just give up. He was an anointed King but that promise did not materialize right away. In fact, he was always on the run... David's anointing did not match his life situation. The book of Psalms contains laments but hope in God's promises and plans are also evident.  He still praised God. Eventually, all those promises and him being a King did happen.

Stay faithful and hopeful. Keep on praying and keep on declaring the truths in the Bible. The enemy will always keep us down and will never have a foothold if we stand in hope. Our hope in His promise is our stronghold. Your pain is valid and only you can decide when to heal and when to move forward. Faith in Christ and fixing our eyes on Him will not free us from any pain and suffering but it allows us to let Him reveal His face and experience His hand in the midst of our situations.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you suffer from Depression (a person’s inability to function normally, marked by persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness, worthlessness, and hopelessness. These feelings can continue for years if left untreated). Please seek help.
