One of the many ways frugal and SMART families saves money with their food budget is by making homemade kitchen staples. I love making homemade Marinara Sauce because of the many possibilities, recipes that you can make with it. You can use the sauce on spaghetti , meatball sub , as a pizza sauce , dipping sauce for garlic bread , pair it with meatloaf and so on. This is very easy and quick! It would just probably take 10 minutes of your time.

Ingredients:
1 28oz of crushed tomatoes
8 garlic cloves, crushed ( you can minced the garlic if you prefer it that way)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp dried oregano
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tbsp black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tsp sugar
optional : 1 tbsp red pepper flakes. 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese
Directions:
Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan, saute garlic until slightly golden brown or fragrant.
Pour the crushed tomatoes. Add the pepper, salt, sugar , basil, oregano , salt and optional red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese. Mix and let it simmer for about 8 minutes.
Quite easy right? Feel free to use fresh herbs too!
It so perfect with the homemade meatballs that I made too!
