Ingredients:
Fully Cooked bone-in ham, I used 10 lb
1/4 cup Dijon Mustard
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
12 oz root beer
kosher salt and pepper to taste.
40 cloves ( optional)
Directions:
In a saucepan, mix the Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, sugar and about 1/4 tsp of salt and pepper. Whisk it and gradually add the root beer. Simmer until it thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
Pre heat your oven to 350 deg.
Put the ham cut side down in a roasting pan.
Score the ham ( all sides) with diamond patterns ( not too deep, about 1/4 deep only). If you prefer to use gloves, add the cloves at the center of each diamond pattern. I did not add the cloves, but still scored the ham so the glaze would stick to the crevices. Cover the ham with foil, bake/ heat according to package instructions. I did 2 hrs.
After 2 hrs, brush about 1/3 cup of the root beer glaze. Bake for another 20 minutes.
Brush or pour the remaining glaze over your ham and bake for another 15-20 minutes.
Makes me hungry.
It is very juicy and the sweetness of the glaze is not overpowering.
Serve with roasted garlic red potatoes and asparagus.
You know what my husband and our girls love to have the next day? Ham and bean soup!

DeleteI haven't made ham in a long time. We usually only eat ham during Thanksgiving...weird huh? Maybe I'll buy a small one and give this a try. Thanks for sharing on Merry Monday. Pinned.
