I love reviewing devotional books, especially the children's devotions. I strongly believe that these sweet moments that we get to share with our children can change their lives. We may not see it yet but never estimate the planting of small seeds into their heart and young minds. Walking with the Lord may look different for you and me. It can look like you doing and giving all your best to devote time to reading the bible and getting to know God on a deeper level. It can look like a life full of prayers, you pray as if your life depends on it, you pray several times a day because you love to praise and talk to Jesus. Walking with God can also look like acts of service, knowing full well that we do not earn our way to God's love because it has already been given but you just have the heart for service because loving on people is what God intends for us to do. It can also be pursuing Jesus knowing that we will still sin but able to repent and try again.

It cal also looks different for when you have a family. For me, walking with the Lord can also look like praying for our husbands and children. Leading our children to biblical truths. The world otherwise will dictate what seems to be right but ultimately what we teach our children at home will give them a solid foundation. That is why I love devotional time as it opens up our hearts and minds not only for teaching purposes but also for reflection. Our kid's minds are full of imagination so why not fill it with a Biblical foundation. I am sharing three devotions from the Indescribable series by Louie Giglio. The books are sturdy and have beautiful illustrations (Illustrated by Nicola Anderson). I hope I will be able to help you choose which one would spark your children's hearts and minds .
INDESCRIBABLE
Format: Hardcover, 208 pages
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
The Indescribable, 100 Devotions About God and Science starts first with the creation, however, contrary to other storybooks it doesn't exactly tell you how God made the earth. Instead, it explained how creative and marvelous God is for making all of His creation from a blank starting point. If your child has no background story about the creation and you may want to read or share the story of creation from the book of Genesis. As with every page or day in the devotional, it starts with a bible verse. The devotional explores the connection between God and science that is not separable. It takes your child's imagination and thinking skills to a different level as it showcases the majesty of God's creation by connecting it to the bible and sharing scientific teachings/fndings.
A short prayer is provided at the end of the devotional. It is indeed short but powerful! I love that it is short so children can remember it. You will notice that the prayers are full of gratefulness and praise. A "Be Amazed" portion is also provided on each of the devotionals. This section includes fun facts about God's creations- like animals, planets, environment, and even about us as well as easy-to-follow hands-on STEM activities.
HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD
Format: Hardcover, 208 pages
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
The How Great is Our God, 100 Indescribable Devotions About God and Science is a follow-up to the Indescribable devotional. This devotional shows the amazing connection between the natural world and God. As you can already tell from the title, this devotional is all about science! Topics include space, earth, animals. and people. Each day explains a scientific fact, simple enough for a child to understand but full of exciting information.
There are no hard-to-explain words and I love that it starts with a bible verse, has an opportunity to pray plus a "How Great" section that includes more learning facts! These facts are fun to know and just amazing to be able to realize how God's love is poured into His creation. Every creation or everything that Gid creatively made has its purpose.
THE WONDER OF CREATION
Format: Hardcover, 208 pages
Publisher: Thomas Nelson
The Wonder of Creation, 100 More Devotions About God and Science is a follow-up to the How Great Our God devotional book adding 100 more learning opportunities to learn about science and our God- the One who created it all. I have an in-depth review of this book that you can find here: The Wonder of Creation Devotional Review. This also explores scientific facts on animals, space, people, earth, and much more! I love all the new information that we get to learn and discuss during our devotional time.
Similar to the two devotionals I have shared above, these devotions also include an opportunity to pray and an "Explore the Wonder section". a small but mighty nugget of information regarding the topic is being discussed.
