The Wonder of Creation Review - A Bountiful Love

The Wonder of Creation Review

Family devotions are a huge part of my family. As far as I remember, we started doing family devotions when my girls were in preschool. My husband and I also have our own individual devotional that we read to fuel our faith. I have shared 10 reasons why family devotions are important and some tips on your family devotional time in this post: Importance of Family Devotions Tips You'll Need. In a nutshell, family devotional time should be an integral part of your family time as it not only strengthen your relationship with each other but it postures your children to have a good biblical foundation. I truly believe that family devotions can change the trajectory of their life and will serve them well later in life.

What do I mean by serving them well later in their life? For instance, memory verse. I encourage my daughters to memorize God's. I remind my girls that memory verse is not only for the sake of memorizing them. These memory verses that they have kept buried and rooted in their hearts will be used when a situation arises. The Holy Spirit will empower them in a hard situation and will remind them of these verses. For example, when life gets hard, a good memory verse to remember is Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord's plan is for us to prosper and not to harm us, to give us hope, and a future. Or when things seem to go bad, one after another. We can lean into Genesis 50:20, what the enemy meant for evil, God will use it for good.

Family devotions provide an opportunity for parents to discuss a lot of things that you wouldn't want your children to learn from other people. There are a lot of talking points that devotions can open up. I always enjoy what my two girls (ages 10 and 12 now) have to share during our devotional nights. They always surprise me with their point of view and how they see the world and understand God's word. over the years, we have read several devotionals. We love the ones that have discussion points or discussion starters. Right now, we are almost done with Dinner Table Devotions by Nancy Guthrie.

I am thrilled to get a copy of  The Wonder of  Creation by Louie Giglio (with Tama Fortner). If your kiddo is into science, this is a fun devotion for your family. How often do you encounter a great devotion that unifies biblical truths, science facts, wonder, imagination, and fun?

We took a break from the Dinner Table Devotions (by Nancy Guthrie) so we can try The Wonder of Creation. The age recommendation is geared towards 6 to 10 years old. Let me tell you that my 12 yr old daughter finds The Wonder Of Creation fascinating and interesting. Each day of devotion starts with a bible verse followed by a science fact or science information. This learning information is intertwined with Bible truths (After all, it is God who made everything science, space, and everything in between. The scientific fact or information is presented in a way that will grab any kid's attention! To be honest, my husband and I do enjoy all the science information. The Wonder of God talks about space, earth, animal, and people. All of God's creation!

Intertwined within the science facts, the author will both stir your mind and hearts. While learning, you will grow a deeper knowledge into God's amazing hands. This devotion also has an exploration aspect. Inside the book, there are six kids exploring the wonders (Evyn, Raz, Norah, Joshua, Clarke, and Adelyn). The book also has a prayer portion which I absolutely love. Another great feature of the book is the Explore the Wonder portion which is like a fun fact area where a small but mighty nugget of information regarding the topic being discussed. Lastly, this devotion is not just perfect for a nighttime routine or a family time but a great addition to your homeschool curriculum beacuse it is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) approved!
