I have a confession. I am not a big fan of love stories. I would watch a love story movie with family or with a friend but I can guarantee you that the idea to watch it will not come from me. I guess you can categorize the new movie from Great American Pureflix, Divine Influencer as such. However, I did enjoy and love this movie! It is not "cheesy" and does not have scenes that kids can't watch.
Additionally, Divine Influencer is perfect in the world that we live in today. The world of social media presence. The world of social media where we carefully curate what people can see and can live a shallow life. Sometimes we get caught up with how many likes we get or how many followers we have. I am so guilty of doom-scrolling. Scrolling my heart out or mindlessly scrolling through social media without noticing how much time had passed. So much time is wasted. So many calling was left unnoticed.
Divine Influencer follows the life of Olivia (played by Lara Silva of The Chosen) living a shallow, selfish, and unpurposeful life. You will enjoy watching her journey as she discovers Jesus as well as her calling and purpose in life. It reminded me of the days when I told my own kids that they were meant for so much more than what a worldly lifestyle offers. As a social media influencer, Olivia lost everything but later on, found what life is really about. Serving others and finding joy in helping those who can not do something for you in return. This movie also reminds us to look into the needs of those God had put into our paths. I love that it reminds young people to be careful who they look up to. Ultimately, it centers us to the One who is unchanging, God. Overall, this movie is entertaining, and while the message of hope, forgiveness, letting go of our past, asking God for His will, and serving is prevalent. Divine Influencer is funny and so relatable.
