Easy Homemade Laundry Soap

One of the many ways you can save money is by cooking at home and making things at home that you would regularly buy. Eating out can not only cost you a whole lot of money but can also affect your health. Several things that you can make homemade are baking mixes, desserts (like cookies, cake, brownies), home goods (DIY curtains, pillowcases, home decors), and household cleaners.

A few years back, when my girls were toddlers, I found a recipe for homemade laundry soap. I tried making it and I loved it. When time allows, I still make my homemade laundry soap. While life gets busy and our priorities may change from time to time, I am glad that I know how to make my own laundry soap. The ingredients or materials may cost you around $10 to $15 in the beginning but trust me, this laundry soap recipe yields a whole lot of laundry soap. I would make a huge batch and store it in a 5-gallon bucket. You can buy a bucket from Lowes, Walmart. Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply, and Walmart. The recipe below is from 20 Mule Team Borax

Ingredients:

1 box Borax (20 Mule Team)

1 box of Washing Soda (Arm and Hammer)

1 Fels-Naptha Bar

1 bottle of Purex Crystals (OPTIONAL)

You will need:

Measuring cup

Grater

Container with Lid

1 tbsp measuring spoon

Directions:

Finely grate the Fels-Naptha bar. Pour the following inside your container/bucket:

1 cup of Borax

1 cup of Washing Soda

1/2 cup of Purex Crystal

Make sure that you are in a well-ventilated area because the "dust" or particles may bother your eyes or nose. Gently mix all of the powder mixtures together. Store in a closed container with a label. Make sure that if you are using a 5-gallon or bigger bucket to keep it out of young children's reach.

HOW TO USE: Add 2 tbsp of your homemade laundry soap per medium load.
