Top 10 Forgiveness Bible Passages and Quotes - A Bountiful Love

Top 10 Forgiveness Bible Passages and Quotes

I believe that our past experiences are a gift. While not all of it is precious to look back to, past experiences lead our future. We have a choice to move forward and to not let painful past experiences define us or we can let those painful memories change us in a bitter way. We also have a way of hiding from them instead of facing our past. We buried them deep inside our hearts without knowing the impact of the pain in our daily lives and interaction.

I also believe that there is an enemy that fuels this anger. He wants to hold us back. He doesn't want us to lean on God's mighty words. The enemy will keep old wounds fresh. Truthfully, it is difficult to forgive and in fact, it is a process. That is why we need to go into God's word to combat emotions of resentment and bitterness. Friends, if we do not protect our hearts, it will eat us up and will affect not just our spiritual being but as well as our physical health. Remember that, forgiving a person who has hurt us does not excuse their behavior rather it releases our hearts from bitterness.

Let's not let anger and bitterness take residence in our hearts. It hinders us from God's purpose in our lives. We will not see His promises if we can not forgive those who have hurt us. We need to live from a place of love (we are loved by our Heavenly Father) and knowing this truth is the beginning of the healing.

I am sharing my top 10 forgiveness and grace quotes that can guide you, give you peace, and remind you of God's love and power. My prayer is that it may guide you as you reflect on your past or current hurt and use it to move forward, releasing yourself from the bondage of bitterness.

9.  “Now there is a final reason I think that Jesus says, "Love your enemies." It is this: that love has within it a redemptive power. And there is a power there that eventually transforms individuals. Just keep being friendly to that person. Just keep loving them, and they can’t stand it too long. Oh, they react in many ways in the beginning. They react with guilt feelings, and sometimes they’ll hate you a little more at that transition period, but just keep loving them. And by the power of your love, they will break down under the load. That’s love, you see. It is redemptive, and this is why Jesus says, love. There’s something about love that builds up and is creative. There is something about hate that tears down and is destructive. So love your enemies. (from "Loving Your Enemies")”

― Martin Luther King Jr., A Knock at Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. tags: creation, destruction, enemies, hate, love, redemption

10. “If man had his way, the plan of redemption would be endless and bloody conflict. In reality, salvation was bought not by Jesus' fist, but by His nail-pierced hands; not by muscle but by love; not by vengeance but by forgiveness; not by force but by sacrifice. Jesus Christ our Lord surrendered in order that He might win; He destroyed His enemies by dying for them and conquered death by allowing death to conquer Him.”
