Abigail : Belle of Bravery - Review + Giveaway

Our girls love the princesses at the "happiest place on earth". They love wearing princess outfits and they are always in awe when they see all the princesses in the parade too. They just recently got into "superhero" girls. Our youngest one even asked for a super girl costume.  Every store you visit, it is easy to spot a princess or a super hero product such as clothing , toys and books. I have mentioned before on my Esther : Belle of patience Review how much I appreciate the lime light  Bible Belle Books puts on the women of the Bible.

I am sure that you will all agree with me that it is hard to raise kids in today's society. I am a mom of girls and I want our girls to grow up knowing what true beauty is. Outside influence is strong. It teaches the twisted truth about what real beauty is and society can influence self entitlement among kids. However, our home influence is stronger. Parent's influence is way stronger.

The Adventures of Rooney Cruz is a great children's book series that highlights the  5 unsung but amazing women of the Bible. While there are a lot of Christian books out there about Bible stories, Bible Belle series does connect with today's situations and challenges that children faces. Abigail : Belle of Bravery is a book that any child can relate to. I love how Rooney's challenges connected into Abigail's story, how it was presented and the flow of the story is right on point.

About the book:

The adventure continues in Book Three of the Bible Belles series, as Rooney faces her toughest challenge yet.  With the help of her angel Mari, Rooney has learned that she has two real superpowers: Prayer and Patience.  After a tough afternoon with her brother and some neighborhood kids, Rooney is faced with a difficult choice: can she be brave enough to do the right thing?

Through the story of Abigail, Rooney learns that she can call upon the courage of God to boldly face any problem with the confidence that He will see her through it.
Join Rooney and Mari on another exciting adventure to becoming the best kind of superhero—a Bible Belle!

About the Bible Belle's Series:

The Adventure of Rooney Cruz is an original children's series that presents real life heroes like never before. The series highlights five superhero women of the Bible : Hannah, Esther , Abigail, Ruth and Deborah. The series sets out to present women in the Bible in a way that has never been done before. They want girls to connect with them and find out what being truly beautiful is all about. They want girls to remember their names, stories and how special they are.

Quinoa Bites

There are a lot of ways to sabotage your healthy eating and one of them is unwise snacking. It is easy to grab a few pieces of store bought cookies and sweets. Healthy eating involves a little bit of plan, prepping and effort.  There are also a lot of trends into healthy eating and snacking nowadays , it makes eating healthy confusing sometimes. In my humble opinion , moderation and knowledge is the key. Learn how to read food labels and learn how to make healthy alternatives to our favorite meals and treats. Of course, depriving yourself is newer the key. Staying as close to "nature" or whole food will also benefit you.

Few years ago, we started having meatless meals. We still do it and I don't think we will be stopping anytime soon. Meatless recipes are budget friendly! Meatless recipes have the notion of being tasteless and that is totally not the case! Spices and herbs are your friend when it comes to meatless meals.  Fresh or dried herbs are both great and if you are up for it..make your own spice blends.

Can you really be satisfied with a meatless recipe? Absolutely! These quinoa bites are little goodness in every bite. This recipe is versatile, serve it as a meal or a snack. Did I mention that it is a healthy alternative for pizza?  Yes! Those days that you crave for a pizza..make this. It will not disappoint.

Ingredients:

1 cup uncooked quinoa
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup chopped yellow onions ( small chopped)
2 eggs
2 tsp garlic powder
1/2  to 1 cup , halves cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup dried basil
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp dried oregano
1 cup, homemade pizza sauce, see recipe HERE.

Directions:

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees
Cook the quinoa according to package instructions. Cook until quinoa is tender.
Mix all the ingredients together.

Distribute mixture into a greased mini muffin tin,I used a tablespoon. Press each cup down. It will be a little messy, some quinoa will stick to your hands. Bake the quinoa bites for 20 minutes . You can check at 15 minute mark. Let it cool.

Each serving is full of flavor and healthy to boot! It is great for after school snack or anytime at work that you need a quick bite. I made a huge batch of  and kept it in an airtight container. It was still tasty after 3 days! Serve with pizza sauce and I promise you...this is way more healthier and hip friendly than your regular pizza.

I might be a little biased with pizza sauce. I love homemade pizza sauce! First, it is very easy to make. Second , it is frugal and frugal is my thing. Third, it is more flavorful.

I also made the 21 Day Fix version of this. I used the yellow container to measure my quinoa , green container for the tomatoes, red for the eggs and I skipped the salt , used the 21 Day Fix All purpose seasoning.

If you are not familiar with 21 Day Fix Seasonings , you can get the recipes HERE.

Giveaway: Owlegories DVD

Our girls watched Owlegories not just twice! Every single time they watch it they giggle, sing, dance and laugh some more. Even me and hubs finds it funny , entertaining and packed full of lessons that we want our girls to learn. It is never too early to introduce your children to what Christmas is all about. What true giving and sacrifice is. Growing up in today's society can be arduous. While we barely recovered from Halloween , you will start to see Christmas advertisements at every store. They sure are eye catchy, shiny and inviting! It is easy to loose focus on what matters most. We forget the message of Christmas. Sometimes, because of the fear of offending, we fail to spread the true meaning of Christmas.

I love Santa Claus of course and we do the whole Santa thing here. Gift from Santa, cookies for Santa. Our girls are young. I don't mind them believing in Santa. Someday we will able to explain the true story of Santa Claus and that we are all a Santa Claus. But one thing we make sure to tell them is who we are truly celebrating.

Owlegories is such a great tool for kids to learn about God, His never ending grace. Speaking of grace, I love that Owlegories ( The Gift| The Star) started with a Bible passage on Grace. It is the passage that I over and over again repeated to myself as a new Christian. When I was a new Christian, I accepted Jesus as my Savior but never understood the amazing and wonderful gift of grace. Every single scene is packed full of values and teaching moments. It is relayed in such a way that little kids will comprehend. The animations are all so cute! The songs are very catchy too.

It is with humor too! My girls did laugh out loud many times.  It reminds kids ( and adults ) what true giving is. God loved us so much , He gave us His only Son to be our Savior. Now, who can top that greatest gift of all. It would be really nice if Owlegories would be on mainstream T.V to reach more kids. It should be a part of your must watch for kids. A great tool for parents who desire to teach the word of God.

ABOUT THE DVD:

Episode 1: The Christmas Gift
The class throws a Happy Birthday Party for Jesus when an unexpected guest shows up. The owls learn about loving others, the true meaning of Christmas, and three important lessons about gifts.

Episode 2: The Star (Part 1 & 2)
In this special two episode adventure, the class must find Twitch, rescue his parents, and get back in time for the annual Christmas pageant. Along the way, the owls discover three things they can learn about God from the stars He created.

Giveaway: Christmas Love Letters From God

Can I be honest here? I do love when our kids get books and educational subscriptions . Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all kinds of gifts that we are blessed with. BUT , if I were to make my own wish list for them..it will be those two. Besides, my husband is here to remind me that I don't always have to overthink the purpose of a toy. If it made the kid happy, it served its purpose. I guess I am just careful about not giving too much emphasis on commercialized Christmas.

There was a Christmas where I was so overwhelmed with the "stuff" they got. I am grateful for all the people who poured love into our girls but it came to a point where not all of the stuff was appreciated. And we are not going to be the parent who dictates relatives and friends as to what they should gift to our girls. So we decided to take the action inside our family. We keep our gifts to these categories : something they need, something they want , something from Santa, something from each other, something to read and a toy to give away.

This Christmas Love Letters from God should be under your tree. It is important for little kids to know the story of Christmas and the reason why we celebrate it. It is geared towards 4 to 8 years old but younger kids can enjoy this book too.  The book has 7 Bible stories , for younger kids read one story a day to them.

About the book:

Written for children ages four to eight, Christmas Love Letters from God cleverly combines both prose and poetry as the story of Jesus’ birth unfolds. The book includes seven stories, beginning with Isaiah’s prophecy and ending with the visit of the wise men. Following each story, the child will find his or her own letter from God, folded into a small envelope attached to the page.

Each letter begins with a space in which to write the child’s name, so each one can be specially addressed to the child. Written as if God is speaking, each personalized message gives the young reader a sense of wonder as they discover anew the Christmas holiday and the birth of Jesus.

A very special Bible verse, entitled God’s Perfect Promise, also accompanies each story and letter as God’s personal words of love, promise, and hope.

This is my favorite part, where they get to write a love letter to Jesus.
