The story of Abraham and Sarah is one of my favorite in the Bible. There's just a lot of themes going on with this one! Let's start with Abraham being called to uproot his location to move to another land. I do not know abut you but I like to think through all the risk when I make any huge moves but Abraham trusted God. Second, Sarah's disbelief is something to always think about. She did not believe that she can still be a mother even though God had already declared His promise. She tried to solve it on her own by letting Hagar conceive a child with Abraham. This action gave Abraham and Hagar a son, Ishmael. (Gene 16:1, 2:18-21). This decision gave Sarah a bitter heart. It reminded me of when we try to solve things without God's leading, the end result is not what we hope for. Third, Sarah finally conceiving Isaac. That even when we are stubborn, God still sees us through. Lastly, Abraham finally having Isaac was asked to sacrifice his only Son. HIS ONLY SON!! Abraham trusted God even when it does not made sense, even when it hurts. I can only imagine all the things that are going through Abraham and Isaac's mind. We all know that in the end, God provided a sacrifice. Abraham found favor in God's eyes. What a wonderful testament of faith!
I got really excited that I was able to watch and review the movie, His Only Son. From the same studio (Angel Studio) that gave us The Chosen, His Only Son is the first feature film that showed the account of Abraham and Isaac, also showcasing a mother heart (Sarah). Even though the film is not one of those high-budget film, the movie was done magnificently. It is encouraging and inspirational. It will give a you a glimpse of what could have transpired during their times.
