GIVEAWAY : I'm Happy for You (Sort Of..Not Really) Finding Contentment

Can you really find contentment in a a world of comparison. In the world of social media and not just on our real lives , it is indeed very easy to fall into this culture of comparison.
Comparing ourselves to our friends, our family and even strangers! I must admit  that I have fallen into this trap before and I may fall into it again.

It started in a Facebook comment. I don't recall the exact picture where the comment was made. But all I remember was being told that I need to go out more often ( Because I am a SAHM), that I have to tell my husband that I need a break. This comment was made by a working mom. I really have a beef with the comparison between a stay at home mom and the working mom. Needless to say,  it got me thinking? Am I really missing something with not going out? I felt little .. and ended up comparing herself to me. While I'm at home taking care of my little ones wearing my worn out sweats , she shared a lot of pictures of herself fully made up, nice clothes, branded things.  Then I prayed and with my husbands wisdom. He reminded me of how valuable my work here at home with our kids is. It doesn't matter what other people may think of me being a stay at home mom, what matters is the time I am putting in with our girls. The girls that God has entrusted me with.

Then I have that friend too, she used to constantly compare herself to me and others. She sees a supermom in me. I'm not. . She sees me all prettied up but she doesn't see the mountains of laundry that I have. She notices our girls good attributes but doesn't see the hard work  that I invest in them, the teamwork my husband and I put in.

If we are not careful and mindful , we will end up being envious of others. We will steal somebody elses joy just because we can't find our own. We can't find the contentment in not being perfect.

"I'm Happy for You (Sort Of...Not Really): Finding Contentment in a Culture of Comparison" by Kay Wills Wyma is a book about the struggle of comparison. I really adore her sense of humor! Especially on that part where she was filling out an online form for a position. Been there, done that.

If you struggle with comparisons, you will love this book! You are not the only one with food wrappers in the car or laundry in the washer that's been washed 3 times!

About Im Happy For You (Sort OfNot Really)
Our cultural obsession with comparison is undercutting relationships and sapping contentment. With disarming candor and humor, Kay Wills Wyma explores how to trade comparison for compassion and rediscover what life is all about.
It’s easy to get caught in the comparison games we play with our appearances, our kids, and our homes. Kay reminds exhausted families about tried and true remedies from the pressures of competitive living.
In her warm, relateable style, Kay confronts the comparison epidemic raging in our homes, our neighborhoods, and our social-media feeds, offering remedies along the way.
With candor and humor, Im Happy For You (Sort OfNot Really) explores the troubling effects of living in an excessively competitive culture—and reveals simple yet effective ways to escape the comparison trap.

Goodnight Moon Free Printable Pack

I still remember the nights that we would read Goodnight Moon to our eldest daughter when she was a wee tiny baby. I have awesome memories of her when she was just learning how to read at the age of 3 (Read : How We've Taught Our Now 5 yr old To Read at the Age of 3 ) . This classic board book played a big part in her journey to her love of reading. I remember that I would just point to the illustrations and she would say.." 3 little bears sitting on chairs ".. "a mouse"...a "toy house".

Our youngest one is 3 yrs old now.  Even though she's not in school yet , we do Before FIAR here at home. If you are not familiar with Before FIAR, here's a great resource. Sometimes, not all of the books are in our local library , in those cases ..we utilize our home library.

Because our girls enjoyed this classic board book a whole lot, I made these worksheets in line with the Goodnight Moon board book.  An ALPHABET practice and COUNTING pack.

It is FREE, so feel free to download and use with your little ones!

GIVEAWAY : ESV Men's Devotional Bible

I am so excited ! I have a guest post by no other than.... my husband! So cut me some slack because I will be very biased.  I was so delighted to have him review and guest post here on A Bountiful Love. He is the perfect man for me to review ESV Men's Devotional Bible. He plays a great role with my walk of faith. He is a God fearing and Jesus loving man. So without further ado, here's my awesome guest blogger, Rob.

 _________________________________________________________________________________

The men's devotional Bible in the English Standard Version is  a great resource. I like this particular version because it is so easy to understand and in turn follow. Each book of the Bible has a great introduction to give  an explanation of that particular book or chapter,I find that helpful, though do keep in mind it is a person's opinion or explanation of that book or chapter and your opinion may be different and that's ok. It gets you thinking and that I feel is the key. The key theme portion of each book is great for questions, concerns short comings or struggles you may be having as a man, brother, husband or father,etc..

Accompany this book with a journal or notebook to streamline your particular questions or concerns to quickly find certain answers you seek or advice you wish to share. For me this is very helpful. The end of book or chapter explanation is a great way to understand that book as explained by the authors and helps in finding the answers you may be seeking for that period of your life or someone else. This is a fantastic resource to add to your library of Biblical knowledge or a great choice for your first Devotional Bible For Men.

I would like to thank Crossway for the opportunity to not only review this Men's Devotional Bible, but also to blog about it for my wife . As I said before this is a wonderful addition or beginning to any Biblical library. This Devotional Bible is well written, informative and thoughtfully laid out for ease of use.
