Healthier Spaghetti O's

I know some would cringe on the thought of feeding kids a can of spaghetti O's.  I do serve my kids spaghetti O's. Not very often , but it is a life saver for those times when this momma is just too sick to cook , or the seldom "momma, can we have spaghetti O's". . Just remember , giving them the O's doesn't make you a bad mom. But for those who cringe and who wants a healthier option , don't despair. Here's a healthier Spaghetti O's that your kids will surely love.

Where to Find Cheap and Free Books

We are that family who loves to read books. It can be an inexpensive hobby if you know where to find free and cheap books.  Here's a guide on where to find cheap and free books.

1. Book Sale at your local library

If you are not familiar with your local library, I think you should give them a visit. Usually once a month they  host a fill a bag book sale. A library here in Redlands, CA hosts a bag sale of books for $4 (members) and $5 (for non members). What's great about it? You can fill a bag with as much books , reading materials ( such as magazines and booklets) as you want.

2. Privately owned book store

Down here by Yucaipa , there is a book store that has a cart of books-- outside of their store. FOR FREE.

3. Yard Sales

Yard sales are not just awesome for finding furniture for your DIY projects , it is also a way to find books for a very very low price. I found a whole lot of children's books at yard sales. You'll be surprised how great they are.

4. Consignment Stores

They just don't sell used baby or kid's clothing , or gear..they have a good and wide selection of books too. Ranging from pregnancy, parenting, educational workbooks to children's books.

5. Goodwill Bookstore and GoodwillBooks.com

There is a Goodwill Branch in Yucaipa that sells only books. They do have a website where you can find used, cheap, collectible and rare collections of books . They have Bibles,Cookbooks , children's Books and a whole lot more. Aside from getting it cheap , when you purchase online..they usually offer an online promo code. Check the website here ( non affiliate link) : GoodwillBooks.com

6. Amazon

Kindle Unlimited  , Subscription is FREE for 30 days, after that it's $9.99 a month. I have this subscription and I am still on the free subscription. I've downloaded 10 e-books so far. I have read 2 already and I am so happy with it.

You do not have to own a kindle, I used my nook tablet and just downloaded the FREE KINDLE APP.
Get the reading app here :

7. Red Shelf

With RedShelf , you buy or rent e text books , digital books for 60% off.

8. Do a book swap with friends.

How about hosting a book swap with your friends? That's an excellent way to connect and mingle with friends and at the same time get new selections of books.

9. Flea markets

Some decent flea markets sell used books for dirt cheap. How about a .25 cent paperback?

10. REALLY FREE E books.

Though there are a lot of sites that offer free e books. These two are pretty popular Project Guttenberg
and  FreeEbooks.net

11.  Netflix for Books

BooksFree.com is an online rental service for paperbacks and audiobooks. They offer unlimited rentals of Paperback, CD and MP3-CD audio books, ala-carte rentals of books, CD and MP3-CD audio books, gift memberships, and a full retail section. Broccoli and Sweet Sausage Pasta

Planning our weeknight meals is very essential to me. It keeps my sanity. After a long day, the last thing I would want to do is to stress about what to serve for dinner. Between school activities, homeschooling our youngest and after school activities...All I want is to simplify things. Esp in the kitchen. I am not a big fan of take outs and fast food but when necessary, sure! I am sure our girls won't loose weight if they get a happy meal every now and again.
This recipe is a quick and easy weeknight meal. This broccoli and sweet sausage pasta will only take 30 minutes of your time. You can add red pepper flakes if you're into spicy meals. Topped with Parmesan shavings or grated Parmesan, goodness in every bite.

Ingredients:

1 pound rigatoni
4 sweet Italian sausage links, removed from casing
2 minced  garlic
1 pint container of grape tomatoes, halved
1/2 - 2 cups of steamed broccoli florets
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
Optional : Red pepper flakes

Directions:

1. Cook pasta according to package instructions, reserving a cup of the pasta ( salted) water
2. Blanch broccoli by cooking them in salted boiling water until just tender, then run it under very cold water to stop the cooking.
3. Brown sausage in olive oil . Mix in garlic and red pepper flakes if adding
4. Throw in only half of grape tomatoes and let it cook.
5.Throw in second half of grape tomatoes and broccoli. Add the reserved pasta water. 6. Drizzle with olive oil and heat through. Season with salt and pepper.
7. Mix the cooked veggies with the cooked pasta.

Recently, I had a really good conversation with my husband on how nowadays, some people do not take pride on their work. Craftsmanship is a scarce ...we always seem to experience and notice business and individuals who works not because they are proud of their workmanship but  just in it for the money.

Let me tell you a few facts on what I admire and love about  Visible Interest .

Their collection of modern jewelry are appraised and vetted by
independent jewelry designers. Indie jewelry designers who share a PASSION for fresh and modern styles. PASSION -- that you seldom experience.  Visible Interest carefully chooses no more than 20 pieces per designer. New jewelry is cycled in often to keep us all looking fresh. Now, how awesome is that? Their jewelry is all made by hand or in small batch processes, and most is made in the USA.

Now that it's wedding season--- that time of the year when love is the air and it's nearly non-stop nuptials.
Big decisions about the dresses, venue, food, and the seating chart have hopefully been nailed down. So, now is the time to think about details that can make the special day even more perfect.
Visible Interest is the ultimate source for modern jewelry-from earrings, to bridesmaid's gifts to wedding bands. These small but significant touches take the wedding take from special to sizzling.
Understated, but still making a statement, these pieces are the perfect compliment for the modern bride and the wedding party.

Wedding Day Earrings

As seen in Martha Stewart Weddings, these Freshwater Cultured Pearls sit on dainty solid 14K gold hoop earrings and provide an updated twist on pearl studs.

Stunning vertical bar earrings in 14K yellow gold set with five white diamonds. Also in rose gold or white gold or with champagne diamonds, each earring measures just a dainty 1/4 inch long.

These extra long faceted Swarovski crystal teardrop dangle earrings on sterling silver chains provide refined glamour and impact.

Dangle earrings of Baroque cut Swarovski crystal on sterling silver faceted discs give a dose of drama.

An update on the diamond stud, these mini spear-shaped ear studs that are just a 1/4 inch tall in 14K white gold with four white diamonds.

The Perfect Bridesmaid Gift

Tell them how much you adore them with a modern XO charm necklace in solid sterling silver on an adjustable sterling silver. The charm is hallmarked with the designer's signature detail - a contrasting 18K gold ball placed artfully on the design.

Another option to give them a hug and a kiss: An open circular XO charm necklace in sterling silver on an adjustable chain.

Modern Bands

This six sided minimalist hexagonal ring comes in yellow, rose or white gold set with black or white diamonds (diamonds are 0.1 total carat weight) over two sides.
